Overview of Offsite Backups

Included with all Biz server subscriptions are automatic, nightly offsite backup of company data to our storage facility in downtown Calgary. This service is crucial in ensuring the safety of your business data in case of accidental deletion, file corruption, theft, fire or other unforeseen disaster. By default, we keep a copy of the last 30 days of your data.

Restoring files from backup

Generally, if you need to restore a file from backup you should first try restoring from your local copy of the off-site backups. It's faster (rather than copy large files over the Internet from our offsite storage facility) and quite easy to do!

Backup storage fees

Offsite backups are designed to intelligently backup only those files that changed since the last backup.  That means the first backup is big, but every day after that should be much smaller.

Total offsite backup storage is calculated by adding together the space used by the first full backup with the 30 days of smaller incremental/daily backups.

How to reduce the size of your backups

You can reduce the total offsite storage you use by deleting unnecessary files from the server or moving them to areas that are not backed up.

Backup reporting

The online backup report helps you analyze what files are being backed up on your server and identify files you may not want to be backing up (MP3, videos, etc.)
