Setting up NotifyLink to work with Scalix
NotifyLink is a hosted solution for sync'ing Blackberries, iPhones, etc. to Scalix - essentially the same as Blackberry Enterprise Server.
Before installing:
- Ensure the device is backed up (using Blackberry Desktop Manager), and that it has been sync'd with Outlook. The data in Outlook/Scalix will overwrite all the content on the device, so it is important that the Outlook data is the "master" copy.
- Outlook MUST have connected at least once to the users' mailbox, this is important as it initializes the mailbox.
- Make a backup of the users' mailbox (Export as PST)
- Ensure that port 5729 is forward from the firewall to the Scalix server
- Ensure that the user has already been set up on the NotifyLink system (not just Scalix):
- You will need to provide the device PIN, IMEI, user account name and mail server address
To register the device:
- On the device, go to: http://notifylink.notify.net/ota.asp and download and install the Notify application
- At a minimum, install Notifylink for Blackberry and the Core Modules (DynoPlex is a trial version of a handheld office suite software and not required)
- After install, there will be a new icon on the handheld desktop, go to it and choose Register Device
- by default, the user name is the full email address of the user with password of "password"
- check off Calendar/Contact/Tasks for OTA load (OTA stands for Over The Air syncing)
- This will wipe the device and replace its contents with whatever is in the Scalix user account!
- To manage the users' individual settings for alerts, which folders to sync, etc. go to: http://notify.palantir.ca/client and log in using the same credentials that you used to register the device.
