Rebooting your server

As with all technology, it is possible that a reboot of the server may be required to restore your connection or troubleshoot an issue.

Please follow these directions when rebooting your server:

  1. Unplug the power to your Telus ADSL or Shaw Cable Modem, wait 10 seconds, then plug the power back in.
  2. Wait for 30 seconds for the connection to be reestablished with the Internet Service Provider.
  3. Locate the power button on the front of the Remotely Yours server. Press the power button and the system should go into "shutdown mode", where the hard drive light will blink rapidly for up to a minute before the server powers itself off completely.
  4. If the server does not power down on its own, and you have waited for more than 10 minutes, press and hold the power button for approximately 5 seconds and the server will be forced off.
  5. Once the server has been powered off, you may press the power button again to turn it on.


Full server functionality (Internet access, network drives, etc.) should be restored within 5-10 minutes after turning on the power.
