How to setup iPhone to work with Zimbra
Before proceeding, it is always a good idea to backup your iPhone. If you have contacts or calendar appts on your iPhone that are not currently in Zimbra and you want to "bring them over", follow these directions.
- Remove any existing activesync accounts on your iPhone (only supports one activesync mail account)
- Click "Setting" icon > Select "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" > "Add Account" > select "Microsoft Exchange"
- Enter your Exchange account information as below:
- Email: [user]
- Password: [pass]
- Domain: (leave blank)
- Username: [user]
- Password: [pass], click "Next" to continue
- Ignore the "Unable to Verify Certificate" error, click "Accept"
- In Server, enter zimbra.remotelyyours.com
- Leave everything else as is, click "Next"
- For "Select info to synchronize using Exchange" switch Contacts to On
- You will be prompted "What would you like to do with existing local contacts on your iphone?"
- Check "Keep on My iPhone" to mix your existing contacts with those downloaded from Outlook/Zimbra. Otherwise your phone contacts will be replaced by the "master copy" in Outlook/Zimbra.
- Switch Calendar to On as well, answer the same question, click "Done"
- Click "Setting" to return to the general settings for your mail account page
- Click "Home" button to return to iphone home page, then click "Mail" icon to check emails. You should be able to see all your mails, as well as all your contacts/calendar should be synced between iPhone and Zimbra mail server from now on. Enjoy!
Tip: Click "Calendar" icon on home page and you can see all the appointments including on the phone as well as on the Zimbra server. When you click "Calendar" icon on top left corner, you can see Calendar categories: All Calendar, All on my iPhone, All on [user] (Zimbra server side) which will let you keep some appointments locally and not sync to mail server. The same tip applies to the "Contact" icon.
